Improvements at the Marquee Theater

Renovations at the Marquee Theater are going to make going to the movies a whole new experience.

It’s no secret. Big improvements are coming soon to the Marquee Theater in New Hartford. Going to the movies will be a whole new experience. Assistant Manager Luke Toukatly says not only will you be able to see images in 4K on the big screen, but there’s a whole lot more.

"Theater’s 7 & 8 are going to be MXE which is the Marquee Extreme Experience, and those are going to have floating screens along with heated recliners, and Dolby Atmos sound."

The theater in New Hartford is only the 2nd of 17 Marquee Theaters in the entire east coast to get MXE. Probably the biggest noticeable change will be the new reclining leather seats, but bringing in large leather seating comes at a cost.

(What kind of changes are we expecting to see here?) "Well first off we’re expecting to lose half the seating roughly, and that’s to make room for the new leather electric recliners, so that customers can have a more comfortable viewing experience and feel more at home, and just be more relaxed in general."

(So I see you’re not just doing renovations in the theater, you’re also doing stuff out in the lobby and the hallways here.) "Correct. We are giving the whole building a face lift. The theaters and the lobby, the hallways. Everything’s getting redone. We’re getting a fresh color paint. They’re redoing the exterior as well to match it, and they’re also putting a bunch of displays in the lobby, and it’s going to have a lounge area as well."

The entire renovations are expected to be completed in the Spring, and Luke Toukatly can’t wait.

"I personally am really excited. I think the customers are going to be really excited because it’s going to be nothing like what they’ve experienced in this area before."

There’s no doubt the new renovations are going to be nice, but there is maybe one major drawback. The seats are so comfortable, you may just fall asleep and have to come back a 2nd time to watch the end of the movie.
