CLINTON, N.Y. – Indium Corporation is one of five recipients of this year’s Leading EDGE awards, a recognition given to companies who lead the region in innovation and economic growth.
Mohawk Valley EDGE usually holds a luncheon to honor the award recipients, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the group chose to recognize each winner individually.
Indium was chosen to receive an award for establishing the CNY Manufacturers Pledge, a commitment by Indium and several other companies to keep employees safe during the pandemic.
President and CEO Ross Berntson says following state mandates and safety guidelines were also a top priority.
“I've been in the factories, taking people's temperatures, and helping them check in and making sure people are maintaining social distancing, and working with the maintenance team and the factories to re-engineer our spaces so they're safer. And that connection's helped me see how important people every day -- living up to the guidelines, living up to the rules, in the factories -- is what really keeps us safe," he said.
Other 2020 Leading EDGE award winners include the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Environmental Composites, the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce and SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
