NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – The New Hartford Indoor Heart Walk took place at Sangertown Square Wednesday ahead of the big event on Saturday.
Participants were welcome to walk the mall any time from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a minimum $30 donation.
People could also pre-register for Saturday’s Heart Run & Walk during the event. Anyone who participated Wednesday was automatically registered for Saturday’s events.
Logistics chair, Steve Gassner says the annual event brings people across the region together for a common cause.
“Central New York is an extremely giving community, a million dollars, close to a million dollars every year to support the heart association - it's a central New York holiday. Families get together, community gets together -- see people you don't see on a regular basis or even all over the country. It really brings people together for a common cause. Hopefully to fight heart disease,” he said.
Another pre-registration event will be held Thursday at Adirondack Diner & Lanes in Barneveld from 5 – 8 p.m.
