INLET, N.Y. – Town of Inlet police have arrested a man accused of fleeing from a forest ranger after he was stopped while riding his snowmobile near Bug Lake Trail on Saturday.
Police say 21-year-old Jordan M. Schurko was traveling on Uncase Road when he saw emergency vehicles ahead, and did a U-turn to evade the trail check. The forest ranger caught up with Schurko and attempted to place him in custody. The suspect then fled the scene. Authorities pursued him for a short time but pulled back when it wasn’t safe to continue the chase.
The suspect was found and arrested on Tuesday.
Schurko has been charged with the following:
- Unlawfully fleeing a police officer
- Second-degree reckless endangerment
- Resisting arrest
- Second-degree harassment
- Speeding
- Reckless operation
- Failure to stop for an emergency vehicle
He was released and is scheduled to return to court on March 9.
