Canastota, N.Y - The 2020 inductees of the International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum were named, Wednesday.
Among this year's Modern category inductees are champions Juan Manuel Marquez, Bernard Hopkins, and "Sugar" Shane Mosley.
This class makes history, featuring the first enshrined females in the Hall of Fame's 31 years of existence.
The women's Trailblazer category gains Barbara Buttrick, while the Modern category adds "The Coal Miner's Daughter" Christy Martin, and "The Dutch Destroyer" Lucia Rijker. Other inducted boxers include lightweight champion Frank Erne in the Old Timer category, and Paddy Ryan to the Pioneer category.
Journalists Bernard Fernandez and Thomas Hauser and Promoters Lou DiBella, Kathy Duva, and Dan Goossen comprise the 2020 class of non-participant and observer inductees.
The Boxing Writers Association and a panel of international boxing historians banded together to select the new members.
The Hall of Fame induction weekend is occurring June 11-14 in Boxing's hometown of Canastota, N.Y. The weekend contains multifarious events, including a golf tournament, autograph card show, 5k race and fun run, VIP cocktail reception, Champions' parade, and the Official Induction Ceremony located on the Hall of Fame Museum Grounds.
The weekend's evening entertainment features Friday's Fight Night at Turning Stone and Saturday's banquet of Champions, both happening locally at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.
