YORKVILLE, NY – For many Central New Yorkers, heating season – if it hasn’t started already – is just around the corner.
Local experts say now is the time to get your heating system ready.

You may want to hire a professional company to tune up and clean your furnace before the colder temperatures set in.
Paul Collis, vice president of Fred F. Collis & Sons, says there are some things homeowners can do themselves to make sure their homes are sufficiently heated for the upcoming winter months.
“Make sure you check the obvious things. Make sure you have fresh batteries in your thermostat and you change your air filters. People don’t realize that dirty air filters will make the system work harder which will cause higher utility bills and can eventually break down the furnace because the air going through the system is going to be impeded and that can cause some issues.”
