UTICA, N.Y. – The Johnson Park Center hosted its annual holiday toy and food giveaway Monday, providing gifts to children with the help of local businesses and organizations.
“Cornhill is known for all of the bad things – guns, drugs. But what people forget is that there are a lot of beautiful families here and we want to give back to them. They're accepting us and we just being part of who we are we want to give back to the community,” said the Rev. Ursula Meier.
Local residents lined up around the block outside the JPC food pantry on West Street.
Initiatives from local non-profits, including Stuff the Bus, donated toys to distribute during the event.
