UTICA, NY – Johnson Park Center continued to celebrate its 25th anniversary Monday with a few more “Days of Celebration”.
The center is holding another drive-thru food giveaway, but this time they’ve added a little something extra to the mix.
School supplies.
Johnson Park Center gave away gym bags filled with school supplies while they lasted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Inside the bags were such items as rulers, crayons, paper, and pencils.
JPC Chief Operating Officer Reverend Ursula Meier says providing the school supplies mean families have one less thing to worry about.
Especially now.
“Even going to virtual school, or actually going to school, the children need supplies. Our hearts go out to every family right now because of the stress of not knowing if school is going to start, or do they have to stay home. The parents have to keep them busy again, so we are with you and we support you.”
Johnson Park Center will hold a similar giveaway Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 6 pm.
This one will be for walkers only.
