JORDANVILLE, N.Y. – The 22-year-old son and brother of the two victims in a Jordanville double homicide has been arrested and charged with their murders.
Michael J. Andreev Jr. is accused of killing his 67-year-old father, Michael Andreev Sr., and 12-year-old sister, Sofia Trusova. Both of the victims were stabbed to death at their home on State Route 167 on Sunday, Sept. 19. A nine-year-old brother was unscathed-physically.
"The younger brother sees and hears the stabbing occur. He immediatey runs out of the residence, tries to look for help. Goes back in the residence because he knows his 12-year-old sister is in the house. Finds her, also with stab wounds, runs back out of the house and at this point, contacts one of the neighbors who calls 911 immediatey to report the stabbing," says Keller.
Michael Andreev, Jr., was found in the front yard with a neck laceration and airlifted to the hospital for treatment. State Police describe what the first troopers on the scene, saw.
"MIchael, Jr., on a second-floor balcony. The second floor has a balcony that goes along the side of the house, at which point in time it appears he jumps from that balcony with a knife in his hand and receives some injuries which appear to be self-inflicted," says Trooper Jack Keller. Keller says State Police have the knife believed used in the crimes.
Trusova's stepmother, Elena Andreeva, is currently in St. Petersburg, Russia and attempting to get to the United States, according to the family. They also say the biological mother, who lives in Russia, has no affiliation with the family.
Police say after Andreev was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, he was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.
He is being held at Herkimer County Correction Facility without bail.
State police say the investigation is still ongoing.
