WHITESBORO, N.Y. -- More than 100 local golfers took a swing at hunger Sunday.
They took part in the Ancient Order of Hibernians' annual golf tournament, to benefit local food pantries. This year, the tournament was named for past President, Joseph T. White.
Each golfer pays to participate. After they pay for the expenses surrounding the tournament, they hope to be able to divide approximately $3500 among 6-7 food pantries in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
"Because we can. Because it's fun, we love to get out here and golf and we want to feed the hungry. That's our main charity for the AOH, at lseast the local division, is the food pantries, They're our most vulnerable citizens, so we want to make sure they eat. Especially the kids,"said tournament organizer, Pat Roach
