NEW YORK, NY -- A federal judge says the Democratic presidential primary in New York must take place on June 23.
Judge Analisa Torres ruled on Tuesday that canceling it would be unconstitutional. She heard arguments on Monday for withdrawn presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang. They argued that it was wrong to cancel the primary.
The judge says there is enough time before the primary is scheduled to figure out how to do it safely.
The Democratic members of the State Board of Elections voted to cancel the primaries back on April 27th citing the coronavirus as a reason to cancel since Joe Biden is unopposed.
