HARTWICK, N.Y. – A Kansas man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly intentionally hit a pedestrian in the town of Hartwick, according to Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
George K. Wang, 23, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and charged with attempted murder, vehicular assault, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and driving while intoxicated.
Authorities say Wang was driving under the influence on State Route 28 when he drove off of the road and onto a grassy area by TOPS Plaza, hitting a pedestrian.
Witnesses say Wang sped away from the scene without stopping.
The victim is listed as in stable condition and is being treated for multiple injuries from the accident.
Deputies located the suspected vehicle near the Route 28 and I-88 interchange, with apparent front-end damage. Wang was pulled over and taken into custody and arraigned.
He is currently being held at the Otsego County jail on a $300,000 secure bond.
