UTICA, N.Y. -- Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful, a six-county New York state affiliate of the National Keep America Beautiful Program, Friday launched their 18th annual Great American Cleanup.
Keep America Beautiful works to keep people connected to one another and to the communities in which they live.
For a two-month period, in the spring, they work on cleaning and beautifying areas along waterways, parks, and recreation areas.
"I would like to think it's a pride thing for all citizens, to walk the streets and not see things laying there that shouldn't be, other than grass,” said Sam Russo, the KMVB board director.
The Great American Cleanup happens April 1 through the end of May.
