If you’re planning a trip to the New York State Fair over the next couple days, fair officials want you to know they’re taking extra steps to help everyone stay safe in this heat.
The fair director says they’re adding more EMT and paramedic staff to the infirmary, and there will also be misting stations available throughout the fair – just look for the orange tents with fair logos on them.
Centro has also donated an air conditioned bus to serve as a cooling center, and there are several air conditioned buildings. Staff will also be passing out water, and you’re encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated.
"The new building, the Expo building, the Center of Progress building, the International building are all air conditioned, so get in out of the heat as much as you can,” said Tony Waffner, acting State Fair director.
Since the annual Senior Citizen Days are Monday and Tuesday, two of the hottest days of the fair schedule, fair officials plan to add a third senior day on Thursday.
