KIRKLAND- On Saturday evening, officials with the town of Kirkland confirmed the NHL preseason hockey game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets will be played at the Clinton Arena.

Town Supervisor, Robert Meelan told NEWSChannel 2 it's official, which means they have to get moving on upgrades.

He said they'll be replacing the glass, the nets and making upgrades to the locker rooms before September 25. Meelan said he's excited for the opportunities this brings to the area. "This is a great accomplishment for us," he said.

Meelan also told us there would be events leading up to the big game.
