ALBANY, N.Y. (UPDATED) – According to the New York State Department of Labor, payments made as part of the Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program were released Thursday, but it may be a couple of days before people see the money in their accounts.

Those who pre-qualified, or submitted certification by Sept. 15, were eligible to receive the additional $300 payments. The department dispersed up to three $300 payments to individuals who were qualified for the retroactive funds.

The labor department says the payments typically take one or two business days to appear in a bank account or on an unemployment insurance debit card.

Anyone who does not receive the funds after two days, should contact their bank.

Claimants can also check their online payment history to see if the funds have been released. Anyone who does not see the payment paid or pending in their history, should check to make sure they qualify or submit certification for LWA eligibility. Certification can be completed online, or by calling 833-491-0632.

According to the labor department, there will be a maximum of six weeks of LWA payments available. This first round covers the weeks of Aug. 2, 9 and 16. The next round will cover weeks ending Aug. 23, Aug. 30 and Sept. 6.

To receive the LWA payments next week, certification must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, for those who have not already pre-qualified.

More than 2 million people pre-qualified for LWA, and more than 150,000 were eligible for one or more payments from the weeks of  Aug. 2 - Sept. 6.
