ONEONTA, N.Y. – 20 fire departments were called to State Highway 23 as a fire tore through Holiday Lanes bowling alley in the town of Oneonta early Friday morning.
The bowling alley closed at 11 p.m. Thursday, and the fire broke out just after 1 a.m. Friday.
Fire officials said having a large parking area allowed all of the fire vehicles easy access to the building to fight the fire.
Water tankers were also called to the scene since there is no municipal water in that part of the town of Oneonta.
No injuries were reported, but the venue was destroyed.
The bowling alley reopened in September after shutting down for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The owner told NEWSChannel 2 he would like to rebuild since this was the only bowling alley in Oneonta, but he isn’t sure if he will after putting so much money into reopening in the fall.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
