If you're a fan of sunshine and 40 degree weather in January, I hope you had a chance to enjoy it today. The high at Griffiss almost hit 50! This mild weather continues tonight and Friday, but snow is expected to return on Saturday.
Temperatures remain mild tonight, with most areas staying above freezing this evening. While black ice can't be ruled out tomorrow morning, that should be the exception rather than the rule. Clouds hang around tonight and tomorrow, with light rain showers on Friday. Highs return to the low 40s.
A weak area of low pressure moves along a cold front on Saturday, bringing a round of rain and snow across Central New York. Snow looks most likely in and north of the Mohawk Valley, with 1-2" of accumulation possible. The chance of rain south of the Mohawk Valley will keep the snow accumulations to a trace to an inch. The overall impact looks moderate, with a few slippery spots possible Saturday evening and night.
Cooler weather returns on Sunday, with highs near 30. We have light snow chances in the forecast for Monday with a better chance of snow accumulation on Tuesday.
