HERKIMER – A Little Falls woman is facing charges following a hit-and-run crash while she was allegedly driving intoxicated with children in the vehicle, according to New York State Police.
Police say around 6:30 p.m. Friday, 62-year-old Charles Braun of Poughkeepsie was riding his bicycle eastbound on State Route 5 in Herkimer when he was struck by a 2013 Dodge Durango driven by 30-year-old Nikki Cooper of Little Falls.
Police say Cooper did not stop and continued driving eastbound on State Route 5, where she was then stopped by troopers after driving through the village of Herkimer. Police say Cooper was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol with her two-year-old daughter and four-month-old niece in the vehicle.
Braun was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center by MOVAC, where he was treated for minor injuries and then released.
Cooper is charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of felony first-degree aggravated driving while intoxicated, misdemeanor leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
Cooper was arraigned in the Town of Little Falls Court and sent to the Herkimer County Jail.
