LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. - A barn in Little Falls was destroyed by fire Friday night.

The barn is located on Timmerman Road. The fire broke out around 9:45pm. When crews first arrived on the scene flames were shooting out of the barn and there was heavy smoke.

It was initially reported to Herkimer County 911 that livestock was trapped inside, nearly 40 cows. Fire officials tell NEWSChannel 2 some livestock died, but it was too early to tell how many.

Fire fighters from Dolgeville, Salisbury and St. Johnsville assisted Little Falls Fire Department.
