Rome, NY - Rome Free Academy senior Damien Call is staying in Central New York and will be playing for Utica College next semester.
The star guard announced his commitment Friday on Twitter thanking his parents, family and friends for their support and saying that Utica College is the best fit for him.
This season Call led the Black Knights with 20 points per game and the team made it to the Section III Class AA semifinals. In that game he set a new school record in career points with 1,117.
Call says, “Choosing to go to Utica College I think obviously was the best fit for me Coach Coffee and Coach Mullane have been recruiting me since I was a sophomore so I’ve know them for a while. It felt like home there. I think that’s a big part of it, to go somewhere where you want it to be a family atmosphere because family is a big part of my life. I’m hoping I can contribute this year and then step up whenever my time comes."
Call says he's not sure about what he will major in but is leaning towards either Healthcare Management or Business Administration.
