UTICA, N.Y. – Businesses in the Mohawk Valley have joined together to support local restaurants through the ‘Take Out the Virus’ campaign.
Bank of Utica, Casa Imports, Gilroy, Kernan & Gilroy, Indium Corporation, McCraith Beverage, ParTech and Strategic Financial Services will now reimburse employees when they purchase takeout from area eateries.
Megan McGrogan of the Utica Chamber of Commerce says employers should have a set amount they are willing to reimburse.
"You have to decide what amount are you willing to reimburse your employees at? Is it $10? $20? $50? So, that's all on a business to decide. Once you make a decision, you can log on and make the pledge. And what will happen is we will include your logo on our website to recognize you as a business that's doing this," said McGrogan.
Residents are also invited to participate in the campaign.
“We recognize this is a tough time for a lot of businesses as well, and not everyone is in the position to help. So, we came up with a way for consumers to participate too. Everyone is welcome to visit our website and take the pledge, whether you’re a business or an individual community member,” she added.
