Local farmers welcomed Tuesday’s rain, but they’re also looking forward to the next time the sky opens up.

They say it’s been an adjustment to deal with this summer’s dry weather pattern. Some local farmers say the dry conditions were affecting their crops, but they say the rain has been a big help.

Landscaper Bob Desanctis says it can be hard to get steady rain in July and August, but the recent rainfall was a big help.

"An inch of rain really does help any vegetation, lawns and trees, shrubs and flowers,” Desanctis said. “Lower temperatures really will help too as well as decreased wind speed, because a lot of plants would desiccate when we have a lot of wind."

Local farmers say they’re hoping for more rain in the near future, but not too much as that can lead to other problems.
