SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. – Local theme parks are still awaiting state guidance before deciding if and when they will open this summer.
Sylvan Beach Amusement Park is working on an opening plan in hopes that they will be able to welcome families to the park by early July.
Park officials are awaiting the new state guidelines before determining if they will be able to meet the requirements to open this summer. Owners say they will make a final decision by June 1.
Enchanted Forest Water Safari in Old Forge is also waiting tentatively working on a plan to open, releasing the following statement Wednesday:
“We are remaining positive about opening this summer and preparing as if we will open. Beyond that, it's too soon to confidently provide an exact opening date. We are committed to opening this summer as soon as it's safe to do so with guidance from New York State.”
On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said entertainment and recreational venues would be included in the fourth and final reopening phase for the state.
