UTICA, N.Y -- Geekcon took place this weekend at the Parish On Broadway.
Local vendors from throughout the area set up shop in the auditorium of the parish.
It was an equal opportunity con that benefitted the Utica Library and the Children's Miracle Network. Many of the vendors spoke about what it means to be a geek in today's society and how it has changed over the years.
"I think I love the creative aspect of it. But I also really enjoy that it's very inclusive. You know I find that kids when they get in high school people get on them about who they are and what they like. And I feel once you find that community of geekdom they tend to be very accepting of you and who you are and what you like about being geeky," said Kris Alsup.
The show also featured panel discussions as well as Cosplay contests with prizes. Various board games and other pop culture items were being raffled off.
