LOWVILLE, N.Y. – A Lowville woman was arrested Friday for allegedly injuring an elderly resident at an individualized residential alternative (IRA) home where she works.
Deborah A. Cannan, 63, is charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, and third-degree assault.
Cannan is accused of pushing an elderly man at a residential home for people with developmental disabilities on Dayan Street, causing him to fall into a bookcase. According to New York State Police, the incident happened July 13.
The man was taken to the Lewis County General Hospital Emergency Room to be treated for internal injuries.
Cannan received an appearance ticket, and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 25.
