KANSAS CITY, MO - The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced, Wednesday, that the 2019-20 season is officially over after the league's Board of Directors voted to on Tuesday conclude the year.
The remainder of the regular season was cancelled on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but in May, the league had proposed a potential return for a 10-team postseason tournament at a centralized location to determine a champion.
That plan was eventually scrapped.
No overall champion will be crowned this year, but the league is recognizing the Monterrey Flash and Florida Tropics as the Western and Eastern Conference regular season champions, respectively, after the two teams lead the conference tables at the end of the shortened regular season.
Utica City FC finished the year tied for second place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 14-6.
There has not been any announcement from the league regarding the plan to start the 2020-21 season at this time.
