UTICA, N.Y. – Mohawk Valley Community College has kicked off its Week of Giving, a campaign that raises money for the College-Community-Connection, or C3, program.
The C3 program connects students in need of services with community agencies that can assist them with child care, health care, food assistance and counseling.
MVCC Foundation President Frank Duross says the goal is to help students receive support they need to achieve long-term stability and success.
"National research shows that 15% of community college students are homeless, up to 50% of community college students are food insecure, don't know where their next meal is coming from -- so we have this fundraising to raise fund to help support the students," he said.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, the campaign already raised just over $6,600.
