UTICA, N.Y. – Mohawk Valley Health System is the first health care organization in New York to receive the HeartCARE Center: National Distinction of Excellence from the American College of Cardiology.
The accreditation is given to health systems that safely and effectively evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with cardiac issues, and strive to continuously improve in those areas.
Along with being the first in the state, MVHS is one of only 36 to receive this distinction across the country.
“There’s a reason we have achieved this designation when no one else in the state has,” said Dr. Michael Sassower, cardiologist at MVHS. “We earned this honor because we’re not afraid to put in the hard work and attention to detail that’s necessary to achieve elite statue. We demonstrate this commitment to excellence through our dedication to patient outcomes and a system-wide investment in the latest technology.”
To receive the accreditation, ACC representatives conducted on-site review to ensure MVHS met certain criteria and proved to provide high-quality cardiovascular care.
MVHS is also the only hospital in the state to achieve ACC accreditation in both its electrophysiology and cardiac catheterization labs.
