NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- Mohawk Valley Health System has resumed COVID-19 vaccinations at its point of dispensing (POD) on Burrstone Road, after receiving a delivery of 500 doses this week.
All available appointments at the POD site are booked through Tuesday, Feb. 16.
The site is offering vaccines to anyone eligible in Phases 1A and 1B, but is prioritizing health care workers.
People must make appointments ahead of time using the links available on the MVHS or state health department websites.
Patient access manager, Matthew Young, says each dose is accounted for based on the appointments that day, and there aren’t any extras available.
“We can only open up a vial at a time. Typically, for Moderna it’s 10 doses in a vial, for Pfizer it is six doses in a vial. So, we are really playing that counting game at the end of the day. We have to have 10 full people in order to open that vial. Typically, we do not have extra doses,” he said. “We still need everybody to go through the department of health or our own scheduling if they are eligible to do so and sign up through there.”
