BOUCKVILLE, NY – As more people receive their covid-19 vaccine and the number of positive cases of the virus continues to drop, things are slowly returning to normal.
After a one-year hiatus, normal for folks in the Bouckville-Madison area means a return to antiquing.
Over 150 dealers set up shop along Route-20 for the Madison-Bouckville June Antique Show this weekend, and they had plenty to offer. Antiques, vintage items, collectibles, furniture, pretty much all the marbles – yes they had those there too. You just needed to know where to look to find the treasure you were looking for.
That, says Michael Cavaller, an antique dealer from the Cooperstown area, is what makes antiquing so much fun.
“A lot of times it’s funny because there will be things that you see that you might not be interested in, but the people themselves, they travel for miles trying to find that one thing. It’s like a treasure hunt. You find items, then you try to describe them, figure out what they are. People get excited when they come out and find the items they’ve been looking for.”
Cavaller says he gets many repeat customers and it was finally good to be able to see them again.
The antique show wraps up Sunday. It runs from 8 am to 5 pm.
