UPDATE- The man who drowned in Hinckley Lake on Sunday afternoon, is identified as Michael R. Litz, 34, of Oriskany.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff's office, Litz was on a day trip with relatives and associates on an island on Hinckley Reservoir. Witnesses told the sheriff's office Litz went into the water near the Trail's End Campground. The sheriff's office said Litz encountered an unknown distress while in the water and struggled to swim. Witnesses located him and got him out of the water.

They said when they pulled him to shore, he was unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital shortly after, and was pronounced at around 3:30 p.m.
Litz was not wearing a floatation device. The incident is still under investigation.

HINCKLEY LAKE- According to the Oneida County Sheriff's office, a male is dead after a drowning at Hinckley Lake.
This happened just after 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was taken to St. Luke's hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
