TOWN OF WEBB, N.Y. – A snowmobiler is accused of assaulting a Town of Webb police officer after he was arrested for allegedly crashing his snowmobile into a tree while drunk.
Police say 52-year-old Charles G. Reitz, of Livingston County, crashed his snowmobile on Trail No. 1 in the Town of Webb around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Reitz was taken to the Webb Police Department, where he refused to take a breath test to determine his blood-alcohol level. Police say he then assaulted an officer and refused to be processed.
He was charged with the following:
- Harassment
- Assault
- Imprudent speed
- Modified exhaust
- Operating without insurance
- Snowmobiling while intoxicated
- Refusal to take a breath test
- Obstructing governmental official
Reitz was issued tickets and released. He is due back in court on Feb. 18.
