RICHFIELD SPRINGS, N.Y. – New York State Police arrested a West Winfield man on May 10 for allegedly shooting and killing a dog on South Road in Richfield Springs.
Ronald R. Bronson, 62, told police his cows were running from the dog in the pasture.
After investigating, police determined Bronson unjustly killed the dog, and charged him with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals/failure to provide proper sustenance under the Agriculture and Markets Law.
Police say Bronson originally attempted to shoot the dog and missed, causing the dog to run out of the pasture. He later found the dog and shot it once, then again, fatally, before disposing of the dead animal.
Bronson was issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Plainfield court on Sept. 2.
