LOWVILLE, N.Y. – About 45 grams of fentanyl and 10 bags of heroin were seized from a home in Lowville early Tuesday morning after a multi-agency investigation that started five months ago.
The Lewis County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 7527 South State St. around 5:30 a.m., where they found the drugs as well as two scales and several bags used to package drugs.
The resident of the home, 29-year-old Joseph R. Fitzgerald, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Authorities executed a previous search warrant at Fitzgerald’s home in early November, where they also found suspected heroin, fentanyl methamphetamine, scales and other unidentified powders. The suspected drugs were sent to a laboratory for testing, and further charges are pending based on the results of those tests.
The New York State Police Special Operation Response Team, State Police Violent Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team, Lowville Police Department and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Drug Task Force with the investigation.
Fitzgerald was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
