Man arrested on multiple charges following Old Forge car theft

OLD FORGE, N.Y. -- Town of Webb police are investigating a car theft, and have arrested a man on multiple charges.

They say 26-year-old William Olmstead stole a car from a home in Old Forge.

They say they found him in the Clarks Beach Motel and arrested him after video evidence showed him driving the vehicle to the motel, prying a hotel room window open, and climbing into the window.

He was also allegedly involved in an accident in the parking lot of the motel.

Olmstead is charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief.
