ROME, N.Y. – An attempted burglary on Black River Boulevard led Rome police to a suspect in a prior burglary at The Savoy Restaurant.
Around 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, Officer Zachary Hadasz noticed a man using a shovel to try and pry open the back door to a vacant commercial building at 172 Black River Boulevard. The suspect was later identified as 47-year-old David M. Cardamone.
After a short foot chase, the officer took Cardamone into custody.
As the investigation continued, police were made aware of a burglary at The Savoy on East Dominick Street that also implicated Cardamone.
Following both investigations, Cardamone was charged with third-degree attempted burglary and third-degree burglary.
He may face additional charges pending a decision from the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.
