NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – A man is facing several charges following a domestic dispute in New Hartford last week.
On Sunday, Sept. 26, New Hartford Police were called to a home on Oxford Road for a report of a stolen vehicle.
The suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Benji T. Reed, allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife during an argument and then took her vehicle without permission. Police say the incident happened in front of a child.
When officers arrived at the home, Reed had already left the scene.
He was located shortly after, arrested and charged with:
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal mischief
- Endangering the welfare of a child
Reed is in the Oneida County jail without bail pending a felony exam due to previous convictions.
