ONEONTA, N.Y. – Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin says multiple agencies have been investigating a death in the town of Oneonta after a body was found while crews were fighting a house fire Monday night.
Devlin says an autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning, and the cause of death was determined to be a non-criminal matter consistent with the findings of the investigators.
Devlin says the victim set fire to his home and then attempted, but failed, to set fire to the barn on the property.
The home was also a hair salon owned and operated by Robb Polley, who left the following words in an obituary posted by Bookhout Funeral Home:
Peace Love and Dignity, I leave you all today I was never meant to be on this earth a long time. My one constant was my sobriety. I died sober and I lived sober.
I had many loves and my animals are always first. I was privileged to have amazing dogs, cats, horses, cows and chickens and funny guinea fowl.
I leave many friends and family. To know me was to love me “or not”. Music has always been special to me. Fast cars, beautiful gardens. Thank you all for allowing me this dignity to choose.
This paper can never tell you all the experience of Life was for Me.
Robb died peacefully at his home. No calling hours or funeral service. Memorial service will follow at a later date. If you wish to make a donation in Robb’s memory please do so to any animal help group. Owner and singing “Hair Banger” of Maverick Hair and Mornin Wood Farm. “Remember to Laugh” #FREETOFLY
