LEONARDSVILLE, N.Y. – A man is in stable condition after he was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital Sunday, following a head-on crash in Leonardsville.
A pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided on State Route 8 near School Street around 6 p.m.
According to Madison County Sheriff’s Office, William Chaisson, of Clayville, was driving his truck north when witnesses say he veered into the southbound lane. Chaisson then collided with the tractor-trailer, driven by 44-year-old Justin Parker of Westerlo.
Several fire departments were called to assist at the scene.
Chaisson was extracted from the truck, and airlifted to the hospital via Mercy Flight.
Parker and a woman riding with Chaisson were taken to area hospital to be evaluated. Both were treated and released.
State Route 8 was closed for several hours after the accident as authorities reconstructed the scene.
No tickets have been issued at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
