COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – A former Unadilla man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2000 death of his wife, after his murder conviction was overturned last summer.
Casey Callahan, 54, was initially convicted of second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Elizabeth Welsh Callahan, and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. The verdict was overruled in August of 2020 because a piece of testimony used in the trial was deemed inadmissible.
In court Monday, Callahan admitted to backing over his wife with a truck in Pennsylvania 21 years ago. He was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, to run consecutively with a sentence he’s currently serving for the 2013 sexual assault of a minor.
