UTICA, N.Y. – The Utica man who was stomped on the head while in police custody last year has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge.
In September of 2020, Kerwin Taylor was arrested following a domestic incident on Spring Street. While Taylor was being transported by police, Officer Matthew Felitto was caught on body camera video stomping on his head.
The city settled the excessive force case with Taylor for $150,000 in September.
Taylor was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon after the 2020 domestic incident and pleaded guilty to that charge on Oct. 5. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 13.
