SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been critically wounded in a gunfight with sheriff’s deputies in Syracuse.
Sgt. Jon Seeber of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says a detective was conducting surveillance at about 11 p.m. Thursday when he saw activity that he thought was suspicious involving an SUV.
Seeber says the people inside the SUV got out and began firing at the detective’s car. The detective returned fire before the people got back in the SUV and fled. Police spotted the SUV shortly afterward with an unconscious man inside.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition from a gunshot.
