UTICA, N.Y. (UPDATE) – Multiple members of law enforcement surrounded a home on Miller Street in Utica Monday evening, after they say a man wanted by police was reportedly inside.
The standoff outside the house ended early Tuesday after police say 36-year-old Gregory Brown of Utica, was not found to be in the home.
Utica Police tell NEWSChannel 2 that Brown is considered dangerous.
Police say it all started around 10:15 a.m. on Monday with a car jacking in Utica, that led to a vehicle chase across Oneida County.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says sometime after 12 p.m. on Monday, they were called to a report of a stolen vehicle out of Utica.
Brown was allegedly driving that vehicle and crashed at the intersection of Beaver Meadow Road and State Route 5 in Vernon. He then got out and ran into a wooded area to the north.
Then after 6 p.m., Brown allegedly stole another vehicle and made his way back to a home on Miller Street in Utica.
Police say Brown is wanted on felony warrants as well as fleeing from a motor vehicle crash.
Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts should call Utica Police at 315-223-3510, or the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office at 315-736-0141.
