ROME – A Rome woman is facing charges after she was allegedly found to be driving while intoxicated with her child in the vehicle.
According to the Rome Police Department, around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday police were called to the McDonald’s at 1707 Black River Blvd. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Police say the vehicle was in the drive-thru at the time police were called, and the driver was believed to be intoxicated.
Responding officers found the vehicle in the 1900 block of Black River Boulevard and stopped the vehicle. Police say the driver, Sara Webber, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and she was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
Police say Webber’s 10-year-old son was in the car at the time, so she was then charged with endangering the welfare of a child and felony aggravated driving while intoxicated – Leandra’s Law.
Webber was processed on the charges and she’s scheduled to appear in Rome City Court at a later date.
