UTICA, N.Y. - Utica Police say a 16-year-old girl was shot Monday afternoon on the city's west side while riding her bike.
Police say the girl was riding her back around 2 p.m. on Schuyler Street when she was shot in the midsection.
Utica Police say she was rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her chest and underwent emergency surgery.
Utica Police Sgt. Michael Curley says the girl is sedated and will be until Tuesday where we may learn more about her condition.
Right now, police do not have anyone in custody.
Along with the girl's bike, her backpack was also left behind on the ground.
