Newstalk guest Jamie Sitera, the Artistic Director for Leather Stocking Ballet, talks about her not for profit low cost dance program at Midtown Utica.
The program is currently housed at Midtown Utica Community Center located at 43 Scott Street.
The program she is trying to build is for children that because of geography or economics, wouldn't have access to dance.
The program is for ages 3-8 with classes in ballet, tap, and acro-jazz.
They are looking to sign up at least 30 students, boys and girls, so that they can offer a discounted tuition of $20 per month, not per class.
If they get more than 30, they will discount further.
They also have a more intense program for 9-18 year olds in ballet, tap, and acro-jazz, but that is not discounted at this time.
Jamie teaches all the classes, and is a NYS certified dance teacher as well as holding a teaching diploma with the Royal Academy of Dance and Acrobatic Arts.
They are looking for schools or organizations that may want to partner with them as sponsorships for dancers.
They are a non-profit 503C organization.
