BOONVILLE, N.Y. -- Officials have released new information on a mobile home fire in Boonville on New Year’s Day.

The Boonville fire chief says the home is a total loss.

The fire started in the chimney of the wood stove and spread into the walls.

Rescue crews got the call for the fire on Lewis Road in around 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

Flames could be seen shooting out of the roof some 40 minutes later when NewsChannel 2 crews arrived.

Fire crews say they had to bring in water from miles away and set up portable ponds.

One person lives in the home and was not there at the time of the fire. That person is staying with relatives at this time.
