UTICA, N.Y. – Police say the victim of a shooting on Mohawk Street in Utica is now in stable condition after he was shot multiple times while sitting in his vehicle.
Police responded to the shooting around noon on Monday, where they found the 34-year-old victim in his car at Hannaford Plaza. He was in critical condition and taken to the hospital for treatment immediately after the incident.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect, who fled the scene after the shooting.
The Utica City School District followed lockout procedures Monday afternoon, and did not allow anyone inside the schools until dismissal.
Police are still interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage.
Police received another report of shots fired on Avery Place in Utica about an hour after the shooting, but they do not believe the two incidents are related.
