UTICA- The Mohawk Valley Police Academy swore in 30 new officers on Friday night at the Stanley Theatre.

They're all headed to a several different law enforcement agencies in the area. They had to endure countless hours of training to earn this honor.

NEWSChannel 2 spoke with Deputy Daniel Waltz who will be part of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. He said he's proud to serve the area. "My father was a fireman, I'm just used to helping people. That's what I've always gravitated towards, and I say from the point where I was about 5 years old, I saw troopers do a bunch of exhibitions on it, that sealed the fate, that's when I knew that's what I wanted to do."
